Tom Adams had a distinguished 13-year career as varsity high school baseball coach at Kelso High School (1992–1999) and Hudson’s Bay High School (2000–2005). During that time, his teams had only one losing season (his first), won numerous league and district championships and played in three Final Four state tournaments.
With a record like that, it is no surprise that Coach Adams led and mentored a slew of D-1 college and professional ballplayers. In fact, it is hard to find any other Coach in Southwest Washington (and beyond) with a similar track record in taking players to the next level. Three goals were always stressed in the Adams high school programs: Teach the game of baseball, get players ready to play at the next level (whatever that might be) and have fun.
Tom grew up in Seaside, Oregon where he was an 11 sport letterman (four baseball, four football and three basketball). He was named All-League 1st team in all three sports his junior and senior years. He was also named to the All-State First Team in baseball his junior and senior year and All-State First Team in football. He played in the Senior All-Star Game for both baseball and football. Tom played two seasons of football and one baseball at Lewis and Clark College in Portland before transferring to Washington State University.
Tom is married and has two children. He has coached his own kids' little league baseball and softball teams and continues to coach his daughter's 14U team. He has also coached at several baseball camps (including Oregon State and University of Portland) and has been a featured speaker at local, state and regional baseball clinics.
Coach Adams gave up coaching high school baseball to pursue a career in public school administration. He has been a high school athletic director and is currently Principal at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Vancouver. He has a strong passion for education and believes that sports plays a major part in the development of each students' overall success.
Advanced Skills Baseball Academy had only one person in mind for leading high school infielder and all-skills students to the next level, so here's a shout out and welcome to Coach Tom Adams as...
